What is an Adrenal Snack and why do I bother?


I always tell my clients “Be sure and get your adrenal snacks in every 2 hours.”….and then I see the eyes roll. Nobody has time to eat anymore, much less, every couple of hours. I truly believe that if everyone REALLY understood how important our adrenal glands were, we would be a much healthier society. This precious and very busy gland is responsible for MOST of our hormones. Yes, I said hormones, the big ones too like Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, and more but it’s only recognized as an adrenaline supplier. Adrenaline is important but it’s waaaaay over-utilized. What I mean is….We push our adrenals too hard and then we ‘live’ on the adrenaline high ALL DAY, EVERYDAY. Is this bad? YES! Adrenaline is toxic and was only created for emergencies. Adrenaline will cause you to be over-weight, anxious, cranky, unfocsued and create a ‘busy-ness’ that makes you appear a little crazy to others. How do we keep them calm and our hormones balanced? We ‘feed’ our liver, which in turn, leaves our adrenal glands alone. It’s pretty simple really…… Eat more often (good things) and lose weight, stay focused and eliminate all the hormone issues. Adrenal snacks all contain a glucose, a potassium, and a sodium. BAM! Here are some good ones to choose from…

Adrenal Snack #1

1 Sliced Apple - 1 Diced Celery Stick - 2 seeded Dates


Adrenal Snack #2

Handful of spinach - 1 peeled and diced orange - 1/4 of an avocado sliced. Toss together and drizzle with honey/lemon or pepper and garlic powder.


Adrenal Snack #3

Handful of kale massaged in some lemon juice - 1 sliced apple - 2-3 pitted dates. Toss together, drizzle with lemon juice and serve.


Adrenal Snack #4

2 or 3 mixed berries of choice - Raw honey - Glass of celery juice. (The celery juice is important due to the cluster salts.)


Adrenal Snack #5

Lettuce - 1 pear sliced - handful of (your choice) berries. Toss in a salad and drizzle with fresh lemon juice.


Adrenal Snack #6

4 Large leaves of lettuces like romaine or red leaf or butter - 4 dates (pitted) - 2 bananas. Wrap the banana and dates into the leaves and enjoy!


Adrenal #7

2 Bananas - 1 Cup grapes - Several large leaves of red leaf lettuce. You can wrap them or toss together in a salad, drizzle with lemon juice.


Adrenal Snack #8

1 cucumber sliced - 2 or 3 dates pitted - 1 apple sliced.


Adrenal Snack #9

A handful of Spinach - 1 sliced banana all tossed in a bowl, drizzled with lemon juice. PLUS 1 glass of coconut water! Don’t skip the water. It completes the necessary parts of this snack.
